The Pendleberry Academy Seeks New Dragon Naturalists
Complete the Dragon Assignment Questionnaire to discover your Order and take your place in the Registry of Pendleberry Dragon Naturalists.
For centuries, the Pendleberry Archive has served as the foremost centre for the study and protection of dragons throughout the Five Kingdoms. Within its Department of Dracology, Dragon Naturalists study dragon behaviour, habitats and histories, care for injured dragons, safeguard nesting grounds, investigate unusual sightings, and preserve the delicate relationship between dragons and the people who live alongside them.
Some Dragon Naturalists also serve as Field Naturalists, journeying throughout the kingdoms to conduct surveys, investigate sightings and observe dragons in the wild. Others contribute through study, correspondence, record keeping and the continuing work of their Order.
Within the Archive, Pendleberry Academy serves as its teaching and correspondence arm, overseeing the continuing study of its Naturalists. With the reopening of the old correspondence routes, the Academy’s Dracology studies are once again open to applicants from the Outer Realm, allowing Naturalists beyond the old roads to study Archive records and take part in the work of Dracology from afar.
No two Dragon Naturalists approach this calling in quite the same way. Some are known for kindness, others for courage, unwavering loyalty, relentless curiosity, or thoughtful wisdom. Dragons recognise these differences instinctively.
For this reason, every Dragon Naturalist belongs to one of five ancient Orders, each named in honour of a legendary dragon whose nature continues to guide the Archive today. Each Order is entrusted with its own resident dragons, and over countless generations those dragons have formed enduring bonds with the Keepers of their Order, drawn to the particular qualities they share.
The Five Dragon Orders
Every Dragon Naturalist belongs to one of five ancient Orders. Within their Order, Naturalists are known as Keepers, entrusted with its traditions, knowledge and resident dragons. While all serve the Archive with equal distinction, each Order follows a different tradition of dragon stewardship.
The Order of Cinderyn
Courage, resolve and protection
Cinderyn believes that courage is measured by the willingness to act. Its Keepers are brave, decisive, and ready to stand between danger and those who depend upon them.
The Order of Aetheron
Curiosity, discovery and wonder
Aetheron believes that the world will always be larger than any map. Its Keepers venture beyond familiar paths, seeking new species, unseen places, and discoveries that expand the Archive’s understanding.
The Order of Merovar
Wisdom, insight and scholarship
Merovar believes that understanding is a lifelong pursuit. Its Keepers study tirelessly, question deeply, and delight in uncovering the truths hidden within the natural world.
The Order of Noctis
Loyalty, vigilance and guardianship
Noctis believes that loyalty means remaining when others have gone. Guarded by nature, its Keepers keep watch through the quietest hours and protect with unwavering devotion those entrusted to their care.
Discover Your Dragon Order
Every prospective Dragon Naturalist is invited to complete the Dragon Assignment Questionnaire.
The questions that follow are drawn from situations recorded in Archive field reports and faced by Dragon Naturalists throughout the Five Kingdoms. There are no correct or incorrect answers. Simply choose the responses that feel most natural to you.
Once your questionnaire has been submitted, your answers will be sealed for the Head Keepers of the Dragon Orders to consider. When your Order has been determined, your name will be entered into the Registry of Pendleberry Dragon Naturalists and you will take your place as a Keeper of that Order. Your result and further Archive correspondence will be sent to the email address you provide.
